Pakistan Urges Sweden: Act Against Holy Quran Desecration

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan has voiced his concerns and called for a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for an impartial inquiry, reported by Geo News.

The incident occurred in Stockholm, Sweden, where a man disrespected the Holy Quran, sparking outrage and condemnation from numerous countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iraq, and Iran. Even the Swedish government has condemned the incident, labelling it as an act of Islamophobia.

In response to this grave matter, the Organisation of Islamic Council (OIC), comprising 57 member states, held an extraordinary meeting in Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, the importance of collective measures to prevent such acts of desecration was emphasized.

Pakistan Urges Sweden: Act Against Holy Quran Desecration

The OIC also called for the utilization of international law to combat religious hatred and urged member states to take unified action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, representing the Pakistani government, strongly condemned the incident, denouncing it as a despicable act. He shed light on the presence of Islamophobia and the discrimination Muslims face in Sweden, particularly as they constitute a minority within the country.

Prime Minister Sharif called upon the Swedish government to take decisive action in response to this incident and address the narrative of discrimination that perpetuates such acts.
