HBO Max Rebrands as ‘Max,’ Expands 4K Offerings

In an exciting development, HBO Max has undergone a rebranding and will now be known simply as “Max.” Read more.

The new name change comes into effect today, accompanied by a significant expansion of its 4K content library.

To commemorate the launch of Max, the service is expanding its 4K offerings by a staggering eight-fold. Among the enhancements are the introduction of a new tier called Ultimate Ad-Free, which provides subscribers with four concurrent streams, the ability to download up to 100 shows or movies for offline viewing, and an extensive collection of 4K UHD content.

This expanded selection includes beloved programs such as Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Knight trilogy, The Matrix films, and much more.

All of this can be enjoyed for a monthly fee of $20 or an annual fee of $120. Existing HBO Max subscribers will continue to enjoy their current plan features for at least six months following the rebrand.

Discovery, expressed their commitment to delivering a cinematic playback experience, stating that Max will launch with over 1,000 films and episodes in 4K. The library will continue to expand each month as more captivating content is added.

Furthermore, Max has secured the rights to present all future Warner Bros. movies in 4K UHD after their theatrical release. This means subscribers can look forward to an exceptional visual experience when watching the latest blockbuster films on the platform.

On May 23, many HBO Max subscribers will receive automatic app updates, while others will be prompted to download the updated Max app manually.

Regardless of the method, existing HBO Max users will find their previous plans, profiles, avatars, and settings, as well as their “Continue Watching” and “My List” items, readily available for streaming on the rebranded Max platform.

To make things even more convenient, customers can pre-register for Max on the Google Play Store or pre-order the app on the Apple App Store before the official launch.
