5 Tips on Choosing the Right Cat Litter Box

Published

on

Choosing the right litter box for your furry friend is essential. Cats are very picky creatures despite being comparatively low maintenance. They need their litter boxes clean at all times, making you their pitiful slave. For forgetful pet owners who hate spending their time knelt-over their cat’s litter box, buying an automatic cat litter box is the best option. There are a number of reasons I think the Litter Robot III Open Air from Cat Evolution is the best automatic cat litter box. However, these are some attributes that you should consider before investing in a litter box.

 1. Size

Research shows that the larger the litter box, the better your cat will utilize it. A larger litter box provides enough space for your kitty to turn around and bury their fecal matter comfortably without distributing the litter everywhere on your much-loved Victorian style carpet.

 2. Cleaning

If you’re as lazy as I am, you would hate the litter scooping chore as much as I do. To break the chains from this dreaded imposition, buy yourself an automatic litter box and become stress-free. No longer would have to clean up your cats waste right after she goes (because obviously your cat’s a princess and requires special treatment) is very liberating. The automatic litter box scoops itself and deposits the waste into a disposable bin liner that you can remove, throw away, and replace with ease.

4. Odor Control

Sometimes the smell of cat’s urine and feces still lingers after washing a regular box. The self-cleaning litter box has an odor control feature which minimizes the offensive cat pee odor without you having to do anything. If you don’t want your house to smell like a pee factory, always choose a litter box with an inbuilt odor control feature rather than buying scented litter which can irritate your cat’s nose and be a discomfort for them.

5. Entryway

If your cat suffers from a urinary disease or is older, she will need a litter box which she can enter and leave more easily. What I love about Robot III Open Air is that it has a large entryway which ensures that climbing inside is not painful for an older cat which means less likelihood of her going outside the box. There is also a lovely ramp or stairway available to make access very easy. If you plan to buy a manual litter box make sure that it is not a top-entry litterbox where the cat has to jump in order to enter the box. It is not a good fit for kittens or arthritic cats.
