Netflix has exciting news for Harry Potter fans in the UK as all eight films from the beloved magical franchise will be available to stream on their platform starting Wednesday, May 17.
This marks the first time the entire collection of films, based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling children’s novels, will be accessible on a streaming service. Previously, fans could only watch the movies when they aired on television or by purchasing or renting them.
In the UK and Ireland, Netflix will offer Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. However, in the United States, fans can find the films on HBO’s streaming platform, Max. But don’t miss Trending Seasons on Netflix 2023.
The Harry Potter films have achieved tremendous success in British cinema, with the final installment, released in 2011, setting a UK box office record by earning £23 million in its opening weekend.
The first film’s release in 2001 instantly catapulted its young cast, including Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, to global fame.
Last year, the three lead actors reunited with their castmates for a televised special called “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.” However, series author J.K. Rowling did not participate, stating in August that her absence was a personal choice rather than a snub due to her controversial views on transgender rights.
Now, with all eight Harry Potter films available for streaming on Netflix in the UK, fans can immerse themselves in the magical world of Hogwarts and relive the adventures of their favorite characters anytime they want.
