Addressing the audience during the Social Media Awareness Workshop, the organizers stressed the need for strong advocates of ethical and moral values in the digital realm. They highlighted that experts in Islamic teachings and theology should play a vital role in promoting content based on ethics through the Internet and social media platforms.

The responsible use of social media can be a potent tool for spreading positive messages and can contribute to the betterment of society.

This Social media workshop has brought the Central Ulema Council and the Digital Transformation Movement of Pakistan together. The Social Media Workshop exceeded all expectations, emphasizing the power of spreading positivity through online channels.

The event covered a wide array of topics, ranging from the utilization of ChatGPT to crafting captivating captions, making the best use of reels, and transforming bayans into engaging social media videos.

Participants also delved into the art of selecting niches for content, steering clear of negative accounts, and utilizing block features judiciously while being mindful of their choice of words.

One of the highlights of the workshop was when participants collectively decided on the pivotal themes to be addressed through their social media platforms. These included Humanity, Justice, Ethics, Worship, and the Finality of Prophet hood (PBUH), among others.

While acknowledging that social media has played a crucial role in disseminating education and entertainment to the public, it was emphasized that its misuse has led to the promotion of sexual violence, conflicts, and moral and cultural degradation.

The negative use of social media has resulted in adverse effects on the physical and moral well-being of young individuals. Many families have been torn apart due to the misuse of social media, including the use of inappropriate language against opponents.

Using social media for religious purposes can also serve as a means of invitation, propagation, and reformation. However, it was advised that youth should exercise caution and avoid falling prey to the negative aspects of social media.

Islam strongly prohibits the false accusations of others, and parents were urged to supervise their children’s usage of computers and mobile devices closely. A harmonious relationship between parents and children is essential in this regard.

There is no doubt that social media has become a necessity in today’s world, but its appropriate use and adherence to designated times can help protect us from numerous pitfalls.

Educators, mentors, and scholars present at educational institutions must enlighten the youth of today about the responsible and ethical use of social media.
